OCC Chlorophyll

Tuesday, yeah! That means that I don’t have to go to work tomorrow so it’s my second favorite day of the week. I’ve been watching Hemlock Grove all afternoon, and I’m seriously hooked. First the hit it out of the park with House Of Cards (I love Kevin Spacey!!!!) and now this show is crazy good. I can’t stop watching it and I love that they have all the episodes up already so I can watch at my leisure. They only thing that sucks is that it’s only 13 episodes…and I’m still dying to see more of House Of Cards. Hurry up, Netflix! In polish news, I decided to try out my new bottle of OCC Chlorophyll that I purchased during my last Sephora shopping extravaganza. Since they were having that 15% off sale, of course I indulged. Before I show the swatches, I just had to share this:

Chlorophyll, more like borophyll!

Billy Madison is seriously one of my favorite movies ever. I go around quoting it all the time and most of the time, people have no idea what I’m talking about and I just look like a big old freak. Oh, well…their loss!

This is my first experience with OCC nail polishes, and I am pleasantly surprised. I found the formula extremely easy to apply and control which is always important because I have a tendency to flood my cuticles if I’m not super careful. OCC Chlorophyll conjured up a brighter green in my head before I purchased it so I was a little disappointed in that respect, but it’s still a gorgeous color. I applied 3 thin coats to achieve full opacity even though the formula was a little on the thin side.

I then reached for my Wet N Wild Diamond In The Rough from the 2011 Ice Baby Collection. If you blinked, you probably missed this collection since it was crazy hard to find and was only available at Walgreens. Don’t you hate that but secretly love the thrill of the hunt? Anyway, I love these glitters no matter what a pain in the ass they are to remove. I tried to lightly sponge it at the base of my nails but that turned into a clean up mess…oh well, I still liked it.

So, I hope you’re having a nice Tuesday–I can’t wait to get to sleep in tomorrow although I’m going to try to hit the gym tomorrow. I’ve been so miserable lately feeling so gross and fat that I can’t stand it anymore!!! We’ll see how my resolve crumbles…haha! I have so much faith in myself, don’t I? Anyhow, let me know what you think of OCC Chlorophyll. Have you tried any other OCC polishes? What about their cult favorite lip tars? I actually bough one lip tar but didn’t really like it. It was my fault for getting a color that just wouldn’t look good on me, but maybe I’ll give them another try. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I will talk to you soon!

      1. i’ve been meaning to watch hemlock grove, but haven’t had time what with all the other stuff on my dvr. but i have the rest of the week off (WIN) so i think i’m finally going to indulge myself (DOUBLE WIN).

  1. I haven’t tried any of their polishes or lip tars, but I’ve been wanting to. I’m not a big fan of teals, but this looks really good on you. Also, I’m loving the glitter you paired with it! 😀 NICE!

I saw Hemlock Grove on Netflix the other day, and haven’t investigated too much. But now that you’re like the 4th person to say something awesome about it, I’ll have to check it out 😉

    1. Seriously…it’s awesome. You must check it out. I love teals and greens in general, but it’s so hard to photograph them against my skin because they tend to bring out crazy red tones so I have to take like a million pictures and change the lighting to try to get even 3 decent ones since I try really hard not to color correct or anything.

    1. Yep. I actually have Venous swatched and I was doing a double take. I don’t think I have Jade Is the New Black anymore but I think this one is more blue/green. It might be a Venous dupe…which kind of bites. I mean, I love the color but I hate buying expensive polish just to realize I have a bunch of dupes. It might be similar to another polish that I have by Nubar. Doh! I’ve been swatching a bunch of stuff today and I feel like all my swatches are looking horrid so I may just stop and wake up early tomorrow. lol I hate those bad swatching days. And yes…Hemlock Grove. Isn’t Famke J. great in it? I was literally freaking out when the guy turned into a wolf…best transformation. Ever.

  2. I haven’t seen the nail colors at my sephora, but I did get a lip tar. It was way too high maintenance for me, stains everything it touches. Your nails look so good!

    1. Thank you! The nail polishes are online only as far as I can tell. I agree that the lip tars are kind of high maintenance but I’d work with them if I found the perfect color. The one I got was too light and too pink so I look deranged when I wear it. Maybe I can mix it with something?

    1. I like this color but maybe I was expecting it to be a little more unique. I do like the color, but I thought it was going to be brighter for whatever reason. I’ve only tried these two products and I’m feeling kind of neutral. They’re not as expensive as some of my other stuff but I still think they’re pricey.

  3. Ooooo I like it a lot especially with the added glitter 🙂 I haven’t tried any OCC polishes yet. My Sephora doesn’t carry them and don’t really have an OCC section. When I looked for liptars last they were just in one of this lil bins they have along the checkout line with the smaller sized stuff. The two I have are Grandma and Hush. They were really drying on me and I was already having dry lip issues this winter so I have to try them out again now that my lips are back to normal. I’m also going to try and do a little color mixing 😀

    1. I don’t think any of the Sephoras carry the polishes in store. My Sephora pretty much carries everything which is pretty cool and we have the MUFE studio. Double score! I’m going to try to give it another shot with the lip tar just because they’re so freaking pricey…I don’t want to just throw it away. 🙁

  4. I actually have never heard of this brand!!! Yeah, yeah, I’m clearly living under a rock. I love the name though and I like the color too. I’m a sucker for this type of shade though so… as long as the formula doesn’t suck I’m all for it. I like what you did with the glitter too. 🙂 Oh and PS: Billy Madison… LOVE IT! My brother and I will just quote the movie all day long and people are like whoa… 😉

    1. Billy Madison rules! That was when Adam Sandler was still funny…ah, the good old days.

Yes, Nicole…stop living under a rock. lol This brand kind of blew up in the last couple of years maybe? Their lip tars are probably the most popular but they’ve made it pretty big especially now that they are at Sephora. The prices aren’t too bad for the polishes at $10.

  6. “I go around quoting it all the time and most of the time, people have no idea what I’m talking about and I just look like a big old freak.” Me, too!!! I say, “Snack Pak? You’re the COOLEST!” all the time, and no one knows what the hell I am talking about. Also, to a lesser extent, “So hot…want to touch the heine!” And, of course, “O’Doyle RULES!”
I didn’t know you could get OCC polish through Sephora! I got mine from OCC’s site when they released Leeloo because I wanted it FOREVER and I HAD to buy Leeloo, so, there was my excuse.
I am wanting to glitter it up, but am trying to convince myself not to. I even have the glitter you used (along with mostly all of the Ice Baby collection…not surprising, right?), but am thinking about using Cult Nails Hypnotize Me.
I have four lip tars (a dark plum, a red, a coral, and a pinky/peach),and…ehh…I just don’t know. Either I put on too much and they bleed, or I put on just the teensiest amount like they say to and it just isn’t saturated. Maybe I’m doing something wrong…

    1. Omg..hahaha. I screamed out O’Doyle RULES at work the other day after a really bad call that I ended up turning around and not a single person knew what I was talking about. It made me sad. Sephora just started carrying OCC polishes but they are online only for now. I don’t know what to think about the lip tars…maybe I will give them another shot or ask one of the sephora peeps to show me how to use them. We shall see.

      1. OH NO! That is sad.
I’ve been told to only use the tiniest amount of lip tar, and although that is helpful, it just doesn’t look quite right to me, like the color isn’t even. I want them to be the magic product they’re supposed to be, but it hasn’t happened for me yet. Oddly, I’ve had the best results with the plum color (the darkest one).

  7. Billy Madison is pretty much one of the best movies ever. lol and I just love this mani. I love how gorgeous that blue is and then even more with the gradient glitter <3 stunning as always <3
