If you follow me on Facebook, you probably read about how I broke my toe because of these polishes. Yep, these polishes made me break my toe…let me explain. When I got home from work, the box of polishes was waiting for me so I teared into it like a lunatic, and I was admiring their speckled pastel gorgeousness. I immediately put one on, and I jumped up from the couch so I could go to my light box to photograph them. In my excitement, I stubbed my toe on the coffee table and I heard/felt it snap. It hurt like hell, but I proceeded to take pictures of my freshly polished nails. It wasn’t until a few minutes later that I noticed the swelling and the tenderness and now it’s just a bruised mess. There’s not much that I can do about it except keep it bandaged and not hit it again which will be hard since I’m so clumsy. Despite the broken toe, I am feeling pretty hopeful about a few things, so not everything is bad. And of course, I am so excited to be sharing the Nicole by OPI Roughles Collection with you. When I first saw the press release, I read it as roofies or ruffies which prompted Jessica to call them puppy drugs…I know…I know….haha! Let’s take a look at my swatches below, and I will share my thoughts with you at the end.

I don’t know how you feel about pastels, but I have to say that I am in love with these. The beautiful pastel shades are perfect for this time of year, and the speckled effect gives them a little extra kick. The formula was a breeze to work with because it applies so smoothly and easily. I do recommend that you apply 2 thin coats and that you let the first coat dry for a few minutes before applying the second because otherwise you might create some bald spots. Luckily, these dry super fast so you won’t have to wait too long.  I also wanted to mention that On What Grounds? leans very blue in my pictures, but in real life it is more of a turquoise color–my stupid camera strikes again! I really hope that polishes with a similar effect are release in the future because I’d love to have these in a bunch of different colors. What do you think of these? Do you have a favorite or are you over textured polishes? Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

  1. The only one I really like is I’m Stucco On You (maybe Rock the Look as well), and I’d probably top coat it anyway! 😛 I cannot believe you broke your toe for these! haha, totally sounds like something I’d do. 😛

    1. These suck up top coat like crazy. I put on multiple coats and I could still feel the texture. I feel pretty dumb about my toe, but it’s so typically me.

  2. i don’t especially care for the textured look, but i do like the speckled nature of these polishes. I would try them as a textured polish, but i would probably just put a top coat on them to make them act like a gloss so i can admire the pretty colors. can you do a post showing what these look like with top coat?

    1. I put three coats of gelous on one nail and I could still feel some texture so I don’t think I’d try putting more than that. I don’t usually mind the texture but these are really grainy so if you don’t like texture, these may not be for you.

  3. Okay, I am so in love with these! I would so break my toe for them as well!!! On a more serious note I hope it heals quickly! D:

  4. Shit these are awesome….the colors remind me of my fave easter candy…those cadbury easter eggs mmmm.
Btw, I can’t believe you proceeded to take pictures after you massacred your toe…although I kinda can believe it but wish it wasn’t true lol.

    1. The colors are very typical of Spring, but I don’t have any polishes that are both textured and speckled so these are pretty new to me.

  5. I (and I am sure all of your other readers) appreciate your perseverance by initially photographing the polish and ignoring your toe, haha.
Agree with Fross that they remind me of Easter, specifically those Cadbury mini-eggs (also my favorite…twinsies!). I can eat those like NOBODY’S BUSINESS. Maybe I should stay away from these polishes, lest they encourage FURTHER candy binging, hahaha. I haven’t bought a bag yet, but…now I kinda want to.
See what you did, Roughles? Breaking toes and ruining diets? These polishes are dangerous. :p

  6. These look so amazing! I’m having a hard time finding them in the store but I can’t wait till I can get them. The pastels are perfect for Easter.

First time stopping by and commenting, I hope I don’t bother you by asking but what camera do you use? I only use my phone and it’s dragging my phone quality down hill I feel.
