Nails Inc. Tate

Tate is the color that I imagine Roxanne wearing: a beautiful, glossy harlot red that she would wear before going back to her “home on whore island.” Sorry ladies, I just couldn’t help myself. I am a creme finish lover (wow, that sounds inappropriate), so of course I adore Tate. It’s bold, glossy, creamy and absolutely gorgeous. I love to wear red nail polish because it’s so LOUD and immediately commands attention. I am very animated when I speak, moving my arms and hands all over the place, so I love to have strong colors on my nails for dramatic effect. Ready for some swatches after I have babbled on and on about prostitutes, whores, and creme finishes? Ok!

No, I wasn’t lying. This is gorgeous and it’s a one coater!!!! I used two coats because that’s what I’m used to, but you can definitely get away with one coat.

GASP! Glitter!!!! I know, I know. I keep saying that I hate glitter, but I’m starting to think that maybe I’m just lying to myself. I can almost guarantee that I will *never* pay over $5 for any glitter but I am open to anything under that price point. I just hate how hard glitter is to remove most of the time and the thing that bothers me most is that rough feeling that it usually leaves on my nails. I really do like sponging–even though I still can’t get the gradient sponging right–so I mixed two glitters to sponge on my tips: OPI Servin’ Up Sparkle and Wet N Wild Rockin’ Rubies.

How do you like Tate? Do you love wearing red on your nails or is it just too loud for your taste? How do you feel about the glitter mix on my tips? Let me know! I love to hear your opinions.

  1. I'll be honest, I like it better as just a red instead if red with glitter. But I think that's because I'm glittered out right now, lol.

I love LOUD red. Like, totally in your face "whore" reds. lol.

I didn't get to chime in with your anchorman stuff (can that friggin sequel just hurry the hell up and get here??) so I would just like to point out my fave part: Trident fight. And my Fave Quote EVAR:

"Where did you get your clothes? The toilet store?" – Brick. LMAO.

    1. That's another classic one. The trident fight thing was hilarious…Brick just holding a grenade and screaming. I love the part after the fight when they go back to the office: "Brick, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you're probably wanted for murder."

      Whore reds rule!

  2. I like Tate and I like wearing red on my nails. I gotta try the glitter sponge with those WnW glitters (this one is one of the two I didn't buy from that collection).
"You've got a dirty, whorish mouth."

    1. That quote goes so well with this post. It was just perfection! I just wish I hadn't been drinking water when I read it…

"You're so wise. You're like a miniature Buddha, covered in hair."

  3. I need this polish. NEED it. I don't think I have any reds like it!

Also, very pretty manicure with the glitter tips. I own lots of glitters but like you, I hate wearing them. They are so difficult to remove!

    1. Finally another blogger who understand my glitter "hatred" lol I think it's a love/hate thing and the hate part usually wins out for me.

  4. I love wearing bright red nails, bright red lipstick, bright red top – i just LOVE red. This obe looks so nice on you, but i prefer without the glitter.
"Milk was a bad choice.". Ahahaha. That scene always makes me laugh.

“Milk was a bad choice.”. Ahahaha. That scene always makes me laugh.

  9. I like it pre-glitter best. Since you dirtied this red up w talk of whores and creme finishes all of the sudden this red isn't too boring! I actually really like it. I don't like wearing red on my nails when they're long (aka about how long yours are now- they're getting long!!) but when they're really short, like freshly filed down I sometimes sport some red. Lord knows I'm not afraid of loud nails but I just don't care for red all that much. Strangely enough, like you and glitter, I still want this one tho!

    1. I filed my nails down a little bit because they were starting to look too wonky. The length doesn't bother me so much anymore but I just think they start looking weird. I think you had mentioned that you feel that your nails get wider and I have the opposite problem…mine get kinda narrow the longer they get.

I do think dark colors look better on short nails…red can definitely look whorish on super long nails.

      1. whorish… haha. nice. Yeah my nails do get wide at the ends. It's so weird. You know what else is weird? How differently shaped men's nails are than women's.. and I saw this one girl's nail on a blog and she had man nails.. like the shape. I wonder what makes them like that.

          1. YES! Those are the man-nails I'm talking about. The guy from One Gents Ten (do you read that blog?) paints his nails so nice but they always look like man nails, and I'm sure he files them and stuff and then like I was saying just today I saw a girl's blog whose nails are like that. Clam-shaped…. that's a perfect description.

            1. I have tried to read One Gents Ten cause he seems nice and all but for whatever reason, his style doesn't mesh well with me. He seems a little serious? I can't even explain it. And his like rating matrix stuff is kinda…uhm, I would say it has a sterile feel to it. I don't know if I'm making sense. It's funny how I knew exactly who you were talking about. I was reading that girl's blog a while back and she wrote a post about all the nasty things people say to her about her nails and it made me sad how people can be such assholes online–worse than in person because they feel like they aren't accountable if they say stuff on the internet.

              1. Yes exactly!! I read that too and I was just thinking, like, what kind of person would even take the time to leave a rude comment on a blog because really, it'd be a lot faster to just click out to another site. Plus, it's one thing if someone gave a little constructive criticism in the interest of helping someone (although unless it's someone I talk to regularly I wouldn't even do that) but to say something to be mean…? They're clearly a douche. I was thinking to myself, if someone left a mean comment on my blog… should I say something rude back or just not approve the comment, or say something all "high road"ish and let it post… I'm thinking I'd call them a douche. Only seems fitting. And THEN I'd block the rest of their comments. Haha. Perks of being the writer! 😉

                1. I'm super sensitive about criticism because I'm very insecure about so much stuff but it's pretty easy to tell when it comes from a good place as opposed to someone just being a cunty mccunt. It's obviously way easier to take when it's constructive. I think I would let bad stuff post because not everyone is going to like me so I'll take the good with the bad. Besides, most people who are rude like that are also pretty dumb too so it's pretty easy to win at the battle of the words.
