Jessica Cosmetics Gelato Mio! Collection Summer 2012

I have to say that I wish these colors had been named in a more gelato-inspired manner. Think about it: nocciola, fragola, stracciatella, pistacchio, bacio…oh, I need to go to Italy soon. I always make sure to stop by Vivoli and gorge myself whenever I go to Florence, so this collection brought back many delicious memories. I am more of a dark and vampy colors kind of gal when it comes to nail polish so I was very happy at how much I loved these colors. They are so incredibly creamy looking and flow like butter. I am usually squeamish about pastels because they are mostly chalky, harsh and application nightmares. These colors where a joy to apply: highly pigmented, opaque with two coats, even and glossy. I am completely in love with these!

Lime Cooler

Tangerine Dreamz

Strawberry Shake It

Banana Peel

Barely Blueberry

Surfer Boyz’n Berry

What do you think of these colors? I really didn’t find these streaky at all because I used medium coats, but I can see that if you use thin coats, you  would probably get some streakiness. The creaminess of these colors is what makes them stand out to me. The Jessica Gelato Mio! collection is out now so go get ‘em!

I totally agree about the names of these polishes. They sure are pretty though.

Omg you swatches with all four fingers!! Lol I really want Barely Blueberry, I swear it would make me feel better about not having a bottle of What's With The Cattitude.

I was feeling extra generous today so I decided to give you all the finger…wait, that doesn't sound right. hehehe That's how much I loved these: they deserved 4 fingers!!!! The next time I go to my nail place, I'll get you a bottle of Barely Blueberry. :) I'm kind of annoyed with them not having the essie mirror metallics so I think I'm getting over wanting them.

Haha thank you! For the extra finger AND Barely Blueberry. :D

I've seen Mirrored Metallics in every Walgreens in the city, at least the ones I've been in so far. I got the blue and purple and I'm going back for the bronze I'm sure. They're pretty freaking awesome and good for stamping.

        1. 7 July, 2012 at 5:22 pm

I've seen them at rite aid too but I don't want to pay full price. lol I rather wait and pay $4…even though the wait is driving me bonkers. I think I'm only going to get the blue one and see how I like it before I get any others. I do like to hear that they are good for stamping!!!!

How do you have a collection named Gelato Mio and then just give them random names?!? Strawberry shake it? Lime cooler? No. I do not like.

However- I usually don't like pastels just cuz I don't like pastels but dang these are calling my name. I wonder where I could find Jessica brand besides online… Hmmm…

Oh btw I looked on yelp like you suggested (thank you) for beauty supply stores and found one in my area. Only one tho :( so naturally I went there the next day and they do have some older OPIs like some DSs that I can't find at ulta, and just quite the large selection BUT they have no new polishes at all :( and charge $9.50 for regular OPIs. What?!? I don't know of anywhere that charges more than the standard 8.50 and you can find them cheaper some places. I was appalled. I looked around in case there were some exciting oldies… there were not… so I left. Beauty supply fail for me. :( I'll have to look some more.

That totally bites about the stupid beauty supply place. How can they sell them for more money and they're like all old??? I always forget how lucky I am to live in an area with tons of crap everywhere. Orange County is kinda lame and boring but the shopping is fan-freaking-tastic.

I've only seen a handful of places that sell Jessica and only one that carries really new collections. The other places just have super old stock which is ok unless you want the newest stuff! The names of these polishes need some major work. I still haven't gotten over Born 2 Pansy. What the…?

tangerine dreamz and surfer boyz'n berry were my fav.

Mmmmm gelato… these all look so yummy, especially the tangerine. You know I love my glitters, but no polish is better than a good cream.

    1. 9 July, 2012 at 1:14 am

Ahhhh…I love to hear people say that. Creme polishes are my obsession, and I can never get enough of them. They are just so versatile and look amazing on their own too.

I like Surfer Boyz'n Berry the best. The Tangerine one reminds me a little bit of Finger Paints Circus Peanuts. I really need to stop talking about that color!
The Essie Mirror Metallics are beginning to be a danger, now that I have seen more swatches. MUST HAVE the rose gold and also probably the lilac.

    1. 9 July, 2012 at 1:17 am

Mmmmm….circus peanuts. I think all the waiting for the essies has fizzled out my desire for them. Since I'm cheap and won't pay full retail, I still haven't gotten them from my cheap-o nail places because they haven't received their shipment. So now I think I might pass…maybe.
