Happy Thanksgiving!

This being the first Thanksgiving that my blog has seen, I was wondering if I should do anything “special.” What does special mean? I have no clue. So instead, I decided to just let all of you know how grateful I am for all the wonderful support I have received since I started my blog. Whether this blog continues to exist in the future or not, I will always love it because it gave me the opportunity to meet some amazing bloggers (and non-bloggers!) whom I am fortunate enough to call friends. Around this time last year, I was dealing with so much crap that I could barely get my head wrapped around it all. While I still have a lot of not so pleasant things going on, I feel light years away from the horrible pit of depression I was in for most of 2011. In fact, the reason why I even started this blog was to VENT out into the void since I refused to go to therapy regularly. Of course the venting also included my love for nail polish and here I am almost a year later still talking about nail polish…and food…and UPS men…and pervy postal clerks. Ahhh…I  have a wonderful life!

I really really hate turkey. I mean I really hate it because turkeys are ugly and they taste like feathers. Since I’ve always had an aversion to birds and poultry, I’ve always had to come up with something else when it comes to my main Thanksgiving protein so I decided to make some tri tip and it came out perfect! Since my parents weren’t able to join us for Thanksgiving this year, my brother and I are celebrating at my bro and sil’s house. We had a great time eating, eating and eating some more.

That’s my plate with some delicious tri tip. This year I decided not to eat so much that I felt like dying afterwards so I didn’t eat everything on my plate. Get ready for my brother’s plate:

He ate TWO servings like this. TWO!!! Ahh…to have the metabolism of a 22 year old guy. I told him that he eats like the apocalypse is coming.

And because this post wouldn’t be quite right without a mani picture, this is what I decided to wear on my nails today.

I didn’t want to do anything complicated so I am happy with the simplicity of this. Jessica Pumpkin Spice seemed very appropriate–even though I prefer apple pie to pumpkin pie.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your friends and family and thank you for always being here–reading, commenting, lurking…whatever! THANK YOU!

    1. I could drink gravy…ehh…that sounds gross but it really is good. Now I have to deal with left overs and I’ll probably eat that for the next couple of days.

        1. I don’t usually like holidays because they seem like an excuse to get drunk or be materialistic to the max, but there is something about Thanksgiving that I like. I don’t necessarily like Christmas but I love decorating. lol I am planning on getting my Christmas tree this weekend so I’ll probably post some pics. Hands down the best part of the holidays is the food. lol

  1. happy thanksgiving!

as we had the american presence for many years in Panama, we celebrate some of the american “holidays”, like thanksgiving and halloween.
this year, my mum wanted to make a nice diner for us, but having my week planned for weeks, I knew that yesterday I would be too tired to go out, so she cancelled everything just because I told her I couldnt make it. and of course she made me felt guilty about it (that’s what mom does sometimes). well the thing is that i got out from office at 8.30pm and at 9.30 I was sleeping.

    1. Thank you! 🙂 Ahhh…that’s normal mom stuff. I’m sure she was disappointed but parents want us to be kids and sometimes don’t realize that we are grown ups with responsibilities too. I’m sure she’s already over it. 😉

  2. As always, love your posts, great read filled with sustenace: humor, noms, and polish! Tri Tip & gravy looked delish, especially when you’ve had enough of the thanksgiving bird. Your brothers plate x2 (feeling full just looking at it) demonstrates the age of weightlessness. I think I skipped that age!

    1. Thank you so much. <3 I really appreciate you saying that because it's important to me to not just be some nail polish drone. 🙂 Seriously...he eats so much that I get kind of sick just looking at his plate.

  3. My mom came over yesterday and we managed to get everything hit and ready all at the same time, using a single oven, in three hours. After all that, I was stuffed before I even made it halfway through my plate! Your meal looks amazing. We had a ham since I too, hate turkey with a passion. It’s all my mom’s fault… And a long story involving turkey sammiches and childhood misery. Lol. Believe it or not I haven’t polished or swatched at all in the last two weeks. It’s bummin me out, man!

    1. Wow, that’s pretty kick-ass…in only 3 hours and with one oven. Whenever I’m cooking a big meal, I also find that end up snacking and “tasting” stuff along the way and then I can’t even enjoy the finished meal because I’m full too! I usually make a small ham since I’m the only one in my family who doesn’t eat turkey but this year I decided on tri tip. I made tri tip once before and I seriously overcooked it so it was dry and gross. This year it came out PERFECT. I was so happy.

Well, don’t let your lack of posts/swatches stress you out. I mean, you have other stuff going on and your readers will all be there when you get back. 🙂

  4. Mmmm I love that turkey feather taste 😉 I’m glad this year is an improvement for your from last year, it sucks you have been going through not so pleasant things, but I’m happy you started your blog and are one of my fave bloggers/blogger friends 🙂
    Btw…your brother’s dish looks delicious 😛

    1. LOL…ewww turkey feathers.

I think I’m a lot more positive nowadays than in the past and it makes a huge difference. I am super happy I started blogging too because all of you have been so sweet and encouraging.

  5. OMG, your brother’s plate! I guess that’s Thanksgiving, haha!
Quite the perfect mani, although I don’t know how I feel about preferring apple pie to pumpkin pie *shifty eyes*. Who am I kidding…I wouldn’t turn away either flavor!
I am happy that your blog has helped you find some peace and introduced you to new people. I am obviously extremely happy that we’ve become friends and hope that we get a chance to meet in person in 2013!

    1. Can you believe that plate? I don’t even have the words for it. I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned the term “food baby” on the blog, but it’s something that I brought into the lives of my friends and family and now so many of them say it. This girl that I met during one of my hospitalizations used to say it “Omg I ate so much so now I have to go have my food baby” Well, I just thought it was hilarious so I started saying it too and it is spreading. Needles to say, he had food baby triplets that night.

Yay to 2013 being better for all of us. We should definitely plan something! 🙂
