Today kind of sucked. I have been trying to get my prescriptions filled but every time I check, my pharmacy says they haven’t gotten the script from my doctor. They request it and I call, and nothing happens despite them saying it was sent. Finally I was told by my pharmacy that they received everything so I go to pick it up. Surprise! My meds aren’t covered by my insurance so it will be about $400 a month. Uhm, yeah….that ain’t gonna happen. So now I’m back to the drawing board and will be asking my doctor to prescribe something different. I need to make sure it’s in the stupid formulary for my insurance so I can get it covered. I’m so irritated because this new insurance I got kind of sucks balls. Freaking cheap Blue Shield plan! There isn’t much I can do until I get together with my doctor so hopefully we can find something that won’t cost me an arm and a leg. I also got a call from the lab because apparently they messed up my urine sample and want me to go back in again. Can I get some sort of good health news today? Oh yeah, I also got my blood tests back and my a1c is at 10…which is pretty bad. Fuck my life. I’ll discuss this more after we get to the main point of this post which is Finger Paints Chromatic Creation.

Finger Paints Chromatic Creation 1Finger Paints Chromatic Creation 2I took these pictures out in the sunlight because I wanted to get a good picture of the delicate holo. This isn’t one of those crazy wham bam linear holos that we see so often as it is very subdue and classy. I really like it and especially like the budget price. I picked this one up at the same time I got Rock Hard Lilac so it ended up being free. Pretty holo and free??? Yes, please! The formula was pretty standard so it wasn’t crazy like some holos. Since this polish is part of their core line, it isn’t LE so you don’t really have to rush out to get it. However, I’ve heard that it’s hard to find and sold out all over the place. I got the last bottle at my Sally’s!

So, here is the deal-io. My sugars are too high, my cholesterol is high and so is my blood pressure. I weighed in at 260 lbs last week which means I gained 10 lbs in the last year. I thought I had reached a breaking point last year, but clearly I’m still struggling. Now that I have insurance and that I will be taking medication regularly, I hope that those numbers go down, but that won’t happen unless I also exercise. I refuse to spend the rest of the year hovering at such a horribly unhealthy weight so I am going to take the bull by the horns. I am committing to losing 65 lbs this year and get out of the 200’s. This means that I have 10 months to do this so that’s about 7lbs a month which is totally doable. Slow and steady, right? I had mentioned to my blogger girls that if I don’t manage to do this, I will legit give them all my nail polish. Well, maybe excluding the polishes in my “expensive” drawer of my melmers. hahaha I know they are going to hold me to this so I better get to work unless I want to lose all my polish! Lose the fat, not the polish. Hey! That could be my new hashtag and tagline. While some of you may think this is just TMI, I think that it helps me feel accountable…like you are all helping me stay on track. I’m looking forward to sharing my success with you because there isn’t really an alternative. Thanks for the visit today, and I will talk to you soon!

  1. Oh, girl…I miss my Blue Shield, hahaha.
I know it is frustrating, but hopefully you finally figure out this prescription mess with your doctor (of course it is taking longer than it should, as most everything does…nothing can be simple) and start on the meds. The urine test thing is also annoying, but that again can be resolved.
The polish is pretty…it looks rather space-y (that totally makes sense, shut up).
Whoa, whoa, whoa…you omitted the part where Amy said we will come beat you up with pool noodles, STEAL your expensive polish, and make you show us your BeyoncΓ© video. πŸ˜‰
You should definitely share your progress if it helps you feel accountable! Anything to help you succeed.
I actually weighed myself a few days ago and I have indeed lost some weight, buuuttt…I’m still about 44 lbs. more than I was at my thinnest. I like how you said that 65 lbs. is do-able in the remainder of the year…that puts it in a better perspective! Usually, too, the more you have to lose, the faster it comes off (at least initially…we’ll worry about the last bit when we get there, haha).
Am thinking about emailing how many times I worked out per week and sharing monthly weigh-ins (I get discouraged if I weigh too often) through our email…but can discuss that later. πŸ˜‰

    1. I hate to break it to you, but I think that video is lost forever since the person who was responsible for it is gone. I actually asked about it and I don’t think anyone else was taping the whole thing. And you’re right…it will come off a lot easier right now because I’m heavy but I might hit a plateau which totally sucks. I guess as long as I am losing inches and getting my medical stuff under control, I will consider that success. I hope that my blood tests in 3 months will show improvement. We do need to do stuff with the rest of the girls. We’ll think of something so we can help motivate each other.

  2. Ugh, that reminds me of last winter when my insurance suddenly decided I didn’t need my antidepressant anymore and they wouldn’t cover it. That was the worst two weeks I’d had in a looooooong time. It would have been over $200 for a month for just one medication. Like, I understand that drugs take a lot of money to develop, my mom works in pharmaceutical development. But $200+??? For 30 pills? F that. I also had BCBS at that point. Screw those guys.

    1. They’re so stupid. My job doesn’t offer an HMO so I had to get a PPO which leaves me with larger co-pays. Additionally, they are basically screwing me with every medication I take. My precious plan which was also Blue Shield, at least covered my meds. I found out how bad the plan was when I had to go into the hospital for extended treatment but that’s a whole other story. I just hope that we can find other alternatives that will be covered by my plan. Ugh! I’m sorry you had to go through that too. πŸ™

  3. Hey girl! I am actually struggling with my weight a lot too. I was thinking about it a lot today and I’m going to start taking steps tomorrow to change it, by walking 20 minutes at least 5 days a week, and generally eating better. I’m going to talk to my mom tomorrow (who buys all the groceries) about cutting out the junk and purchasing more fresh produce and chicken breast for me so I can eat good all week. I currently weigh 274, I don’t really have a goal in mind right now but I would love to at some point in my life get down to 200. Maybe I should aim for the 7 pounds a month too. If you ever think you might need a weight loss buddy, you can hit me up on Kik (amethystxiii) or on FB. I’m looking for some buddies myself.

    1. I was thinking of maybe starting up a group or something. I think I need the support and accountability because I just slack when I feel no one is “watching” me. I know that’s not ideal, but I think I need it at least to kickstart everything.

  4. Good luck! This may be one of the hardest things to accomplish but it will be so worthwhile and you will feel so much better. There’s no question at ALL that you CAN do it! Don’t let setbacks get you down, there will be days that suck more than others and there will be days that you own the world. When you see the A1C come down and your energy is up it is so worth it! If your insurance will cover a nutritionist that helps a lot. Also look to see if they provide for discounts on fitness centers. Even crappy plans frequently do so they (in theory) don’t have to cover as many medical bills. You will accomplish this πŸ™‚

    BTW Gorgeous polish!

  5. I want to encourage you try juicing. I lost Over 40 pounds last year mainly due to juicing & eating “healthier”, cutting out processed foods. My family and I watched the documentary Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead and all of us went on a 10 day juice fast the next day – we followed the Reboot site related to the documentary. The fast really kickstarted our healthier eating plan because after the fast we used a lot of the same ingredIents in salads. I’ve stayed with juicing ever since, 10 months now. It really fills you up and truly is satisfying. The fresh juices taste nothing like the canned junk you get in markets, it was really shocking to learn that. Of course, exercise is essential too. Also, a friend of mine just started a campaign on Kickstarter for a product called “Diet Dice” – it’s a fun way to get endless combinations / recipes for juices, smoothies, salads, sandwiches, cocktails! and even fitness you can do at home. If you want any tips or advice on juicing, just let me know! I’d be glad to share what I’ve learned. At one time I was around 260 or a bit higher and after quite a number of years I lost 100 pounds. It can be done, don’t lose hope : )

  6. wuah… sucks about your insurance and A1C =(( no worries though!! i don’t know if you’re type 1 or 2 (i assume 2), but maybe when you lose some weight, your number will go down? and you WILL lose it! exercising sucks, i know, but maybe you could do one of those 30-min programs? i’ve tried t-25 and now i’m doing p90x3 (both from beachbody). They only last 30 min but you see great results!! in any case, i wish you all the luck!! I would love to hear your progress!!
And the polish is stunning. didn’t know Finger paints carries holos!

  7. I’m right there with you girl, I am at 260 as well, keep losing and regaining the same 20 lbs. I got high cholesterol and blood pressure too. It’s a fight with myself more than anything else. I hope you update the progress, inspiration is infectious!
