Essie Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low Collection Winter 2014

Hey there! How’s your Monday going? Mine is same old same old–you already know how I feel about Mondays. I had a pretty relaxed weekend and of course I didn’t get all he stuff done that I need to, but that’s just the way weekends go, right? I still have a huge pile of polishes to swatch that I’ve decided to not stress about anymore. I got about 20 done on Sunday which is pretty good so at least that was a small dent. Today’s post is all about the latest Winter collection I got my hands on: Essie Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low Collection for Winter 2014. Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low???? What does that even mean? Anyway, let’s take a look at the polishes.

Ugh. Where to start? The first two polishes Tuck It In My Tux and Back In The Limo are sheer jellies so they were not enjoyable AT ALL. They were both so streaky! I have this rule that if a polish still doesn’t look good at 3 coats, I am not going to fiddle with it anymore and it will stay ugly for my blog.  I really wanted to like these two because they are classy colors that I think everyone should own, but the formula ruined it for me. The next 3 polishes are creamy and delicious–everything I dream about when I think of cremes. They are one coaters if you’re careful which you know I always enjoy. Despite this, how do these colors fit in a Winter collection? I just don’t get it.  And then we have the gold/silver foil. No, just no. This collection was just a big no for me so I’ve put it up on my blog sale. Don’t get me wrong–4 polishes out of 6 had a really great formula, but I just find the collection disjointed and not super exciting at all. So what do you think? Are you as “meh” on this collection as I am? Let me know in the comments below! Thanks so much for stopping by today.

  1. Wow. I dont even know what to say about this. I was confused right from the beginning with the name. Then as I scrolled through the swatches I kept thinking no… no… no… And of course the question of how any of this says Winter. At all. *Sigh* too bad.

  2. I’m so confused. I already thought these were kind of out-of-place for a winter collection, and now the names are absolutely KILLING me. Jiggle Hi, Jiggle Low (gigolo)? And I find most of the names to be weirdly suggestive, although I could see there being a “formal” theme, too (that is one of the weirdest sentences I’ve ever written, lol). I don’t like any of the colors, either. Just…nope.

  3. This is a disappointing collection. Nothing holiday about it. The cremes are pretty, but not for this time of year. I’m going to pass on these.

  4. Anyone else think Jiggle Hi/Lo is a poor man’s Loaded Lacquer Coconut? I love Coconut, but unlike this polish, it is a dream to apply.

I am way ‘meh’ on this collection. Not a single polish was added to my ‘be on the lookout for’ list. Sad essie, very sad indeed.

Will they come out with a real Christmas collection?

  5. The really pale Tuck it in my Tux made me think of OPI’s NY Ballet collection, which polish was that, Don’t Touch my Tutu? The only one I really liked here was the darker red Jump in my Jumpsuit. The rest are all meh. Not much of an exciting collection and the names are weird. But if you’re going to be jumping in your jumpsuit then things will be jiggling both high and low.

    1. LOL Cindi! someone from Essie needs to call you to recruit you for their focus group. I am all for whimsical polish names but let’s bring some common sense back here. This will go down in history as one of the most ridiculously and inappropriately named collections from Essie, ever.

  6. Love the colors but they just dont fit for Christmas. Back in the limo is such a awesome color but not the application. Sucks 🙁

  7. For anyone wondering about the name of the collection, I think it’s a play on Herreys'(Swedish 80’s pop band) Eurovision song Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley. 🙂

Not sure I want any of these…Nothing we haven’t seen before, and a bit “inappropriate” for the season? lol

  8. No. Just.. no. I’m so disappointed. 🙁 This isn’t a winter collection, this is a “meh…” collection.

The name makes me think of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, for some reason. (“Because I’m easy come, easy go, little high, little low…”) 🙂

  9. Don’t know if the names or the colors is the worst, I really understand why you don’t like it, non of them will get a spot in my drawer for sure. Let just hope that the other companies have “bigger” brains. 🙂

  10. Blech! This is sooo disappointing! Your hands look gorge as always, but these colors just don’t do it for me at all – how are these winter colors???

  11. It’s as if these were the red-headed stepchildren of collections past…
And the names, oh lawdy! Can’t decide if they’re going for tongue in cheek or trying to be all edgey and rebellious à la urban decay, or some uncomfortable place in between… Ugh. Just a nope all around.

    1. LOL!!!! Red-headed stepchildren. hahahaha I so agree with you. Either you go all out or you don’t go there at all. I find the names disturbing, and this is coming from someone who lauded Illamasqua Load…
