China Glaze Ready To Wear Collection Fall 2018

It is a little surreal that Fall collections are starting to pop up when Summer is barely getting underway. Fortunately, it has not been ridiculously hot here lately, but I know that it’s just a matter of time before the heat really gets going. Last week I went looking for polish stuff at some of my usual haunts and lo and behold, I saw some of the new Fall collections. I did one of my usual grabby hands rituals and got way more stuff than I should have. Are you ready to check out the China Glaze Ready to Wear Collection for Fall 2018? Let’s look at my swatches below.

First of all, I am missing 2 shades: Aut-umn I Need That and Mustard The Courage. I was super bummed that I couldn’t get the two missing shades because I get twitchy when I don’t have the whole collection. My beauty supply peeps told me that those two shades were backordered. I was soooooo looking forward to getting Mustard The Courage because it’s one of those interesting/ugly colors that I love so much. I may eventually pick that one up since it was the one I was most interested in. Now, let me get into the shades I did manage to get…MEH. I don’t know why I am so thoroughly underwhelmed by this collection. Some of the shades are really pretty, but overall I am feeling let down. I always look forward to China Glaze Fall Collections because they usually put out some really gorgeous shades. The most unfortunate shade in this collection is definitely Haute Blooded. It looks dreadful due to the matte finish…please stop doing these matte shades, China Glaze. Pleather Weather is another one that has an interesting finish: it’s kind of waxy/satin-like. The formula was a little unfortunate and I had to apply 3 coats–the third one was thick and I had to float it on the nail to smooth everything out. Chic Happens is another one of those ugly silver metallics that I have had enough of…since 2016. The cremes in this collection, with the exception of Throwing Suede which was hella streaky, were really beautiful. Those two blues and that green were delicious. They only needed two coats and applied beautifully. The three shimmers are also really nice–my favorite being Pay It Fashion Forward. Overall, I’m feeling pretty bored by this collection which makes me a sad panda. I’ll be placing them in my blog sale since I really don’t have room in my melmers for collections that I don’t absolutely love. Check it out on my blog sale page here.

So what do you think of this collection? Are you as disappointed as I am? Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon.

  1. I liked the grey and the green… But nothing I would run after, desperately. The other polishes, no way. Too ugly and antiquated. Not for me.

  2. I really like Vest Friends and Pay It Fashion Forward…but I agree with the rest just being “meh”. If you like “ugly” colors, I bet you’d like Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Footpath.

  3. That mustard color sounds gorgeous. I hadn’t seen pics of the CHG fall yet so this post is awesome.

  4. As a summer person the weather has been unusually for for a change here in the U.K. and I’m loving it! Sizing me up is my favourite ?

  5. Hi Cynthia, I do enjoy how China Glaze boldly tries all kinds of unique finishes, including metallics/glitters/mattes/satins. And the company branches out with their color selections, too, never giving us the same monotonous pinks/reds/purples. The other mainstream brands have really gotten lazy in that department with their constant releases of cremes-only collections. However, I haven’t bought any CG for a few years now due to the skinny, soft brushes and inconsistent formulas. No way am I going to fuss and stress with streakiness, chunkies, too sheer, and lots of brushstrokes per nail. Thanks for the post!!

  6. The green is the only one of this bunch that catches my eye. Haute Blooded dries matte, yes? Looks hard to use.

Also FWIW I was at Michaels today and they had an aisle full of Christmas wreaths and ornaments. AAAIIIIIEEEEEEEE!
