China Glaze Draped In Velvet

Hello there! The weather is pretty kick ass in So Cal today: it’s sunny but chilly and really windy. It’s the perfect weather for staying in bed all day but that’s not happening today. I actually overslept today even though I am always up fairly early so of course today was the day that I was going to get an early call from my new employer to interview me in French. Nice. I probably made a horrible impression since I sounded like I was groggy andΒ  tired. Maybe I’m coming down with something. If I am going to get the flu, I hope I get it now so that I can be ok by the time I start my new job in another week. Remember how I was saying that I’ve been super lucky lately? Well, last night I was in a conference call with my fellow Latina Lifestyle Bloggers, and I won a raffle for a ticket to attend the Third Annual National Lifestyle Blogger Conference & Junket!!! I was super excited about this because I really wanted to go but the ticket is a few hundred dollars and I just couldn’t swing that with the whole not working part. Well, I am super duper excited to attend this conference and hope that I learn tons of new stuff. Blogging has become a passion for me, and I really hope that I can continue to grow my blog and that you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.

Moving on to the nail polish, I have China Glaze Draped In Velvet to share with you today:

China Glaze Draped in Velvet is from the 2006 We Adorn You Collection which obviously pre-dates my polish obsession. This color is like a magenta, blue leaning, shimmery purple. The formula was pretty decent like most China Glaze polishes. I can’t say that I’m blown away by this color but it’s nice.collage2

I then took out my Layla holo in Flash Black and used Konad Plate M63 to stamp this design. I really like how this turned out because it looks all swirly and almost whimsical.

Sorry to keep it short today but my friend is patiently waiting for me to finish up this post so we can go grab some lunch! πŸ™‚ Thanks for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon.

  1. What will you be doing in your new job? It’s windy here too, sun off & on, going to drop 10deg by tomorrow. I’ve been fighting the icky myself, sick 3 days last week, got better, now feeling a bit off again. Your nails have grown a lot, beautiful long or short!

    1. It’s just a wonderfully boring office job. I wasn’t looking for anything too high stress right now since I’m just getting back into the workforce so it’s perfect. I keep hoping that I don’t get the flu while I’m still in training at work–that would suck! My nails do grow really fast and I just can’t leave them long so I’m constantly filing them down.

  2. Ooh pretty! I have that stamp and I think I will have to do this mani next. I was just looking for something to use a blood red vampy polish with since it’s not spring yet, I’m trying to use all the dark fall/winter colors I can. I didn’t want to do a time consuming artsy fartsy mani but I can’t go with just 1 plain boring color either and this is perfect! Thanks! I rarely use my stamps so this is fab. You’re awesome for posting this right on time!

    1. Well, I’m glad that it worked out! πŸ™‚ It seems that I also have a really hard time just doing a plain mani lately–I just feel like my hands look so plain unless I stamp or bedazzle my manicure. Oddly, I am so ready for the spring collections and keep wanting to use pastels.

  3. Congratulations! Please send some luck my way, haha! πŸ˜‰
I LOVE this color! It reminds me a bit of a Sation that you posted that is now on my wishlist – Violet Sapphire, I think? Anyway, this is EXTRA WIN (just like you lately, oh, snap!) with the holo stamping. I am a frequent and avid passenger aboard the holo stamping admiration train! πŸ˜‰

    1. Ok, I am doing a magic spell and bottling some lucky and shooting it your way. πŸ˜‰ Yes, you are right: this is very similar to Violet Sapphire! I can’t believe that I hadn’t used my holos for stamping sooner–I just love the way they look too.

  4. It’s been windier than Kansas here, too! And COLD!!! It’s been so windy in fact that the neighbor’s big trampoline blew up INTO OUR TREE last week!! How crazy is that?! A huge trampoline. Congratulations on yet ANOTHER bout of good luck with the ticket raffle!!! That will be so fun! When is it? Will it interfere with your work schedule?? I’m so excited for you. You’re gonna be a “big blogger” in no time πŸ™‚ I love how the stamp looks with Flash Black!! I tried using it the other day and it looked like crap for me. I’ll have to try it again and see if the color combo with the base polish was just bad. When you use it it looks so good!!

    1. I am not sure how it’s going to interfere with work but it’s not until April so I have time to try to work out the days. It sounds like it’s super fun and interesting. Some girls who went last year said that it was amazing and that they learned tons. Uhm, that is super weird about the trampoline. How the heck did they get it down???? I wonder why it doesn’t turn out when you use your holos for stamping…maybe it’s the base color?

    1. Hmmm…I wonder if it’s just these Layla’s that work well. I only have one Jade holo and I think it wouldn’t work because the formula is so smooth. The Layla holos are really grainy with the holo particles, so maybe that’s why they work better.
