The weather seems to be picking up around here, and I’m kinda glad. It’s not that I necessarily love the Summer because I, in fact, HATE the heat, but I am tired of the stupid muggy dreary days. This is California for heaven’s sake! Today was pretty busy for me at work like most Mondays tend to be so I’m going to jump right in to the swatches. Yep, I know you’re all here for the swatches and not to listen to my complaining and rambling. But, before I move on to the swatches I want to say that I really love San Francisco even though I’ve only been there once. I have family up north so I went to visit once and we ended up taking a trip to San Francisco. What an awesome city–I can almost forgive Nor Cal for the whole “hella” thing after seeing such a gorgeous city. Anyway, let’s get to the pretty polishes!

OPI A-piers To Be Tan 1

OPI A-piers To Be Tan 2

OPI A-piers To Be Tan is an interesting color. Yes, this is one of those colors that you’re either going to love or you’re going to hate because I classify it as a pretty/ugly color. I am leaning towards liking this color because I don’t think I really have a dupe for this in my collection currently. The formula was nice and pigmented so I only needed two coats.

OPI First Date At the Golden Gate 1

OPI First Date At the Golden Gate 2

When I first saw OPI First Date At the Golden Gate, I wasn’t really blown away. It’s a red. I like red. I have a million reds. Still, it’s a nice color and it has kind of a jelly quality to it. I used two coats for the swatches above.

OPI In The Cable Car-pool Lane 1

OPI In The Cable Car-pool Lane 2

I have a soft spot for deep wine colors so OPI In The Cable Car-pool Lane is a deep burgundy that I’ll be sure to sport this fall. The formula here was good so I only needed two coats.

OPI Incognito In Sausalito 1

OPI Incognito In Sausalito 2

I think that out of this second batch of colors that I swatched, OPI Incognito In Sausalito has got to be my favorite! It’s this deep inky blue that almost looks black but not quite! Despite how dark this color is, I noticed that I had a couple of bald spots after two coats so I had to apply a third coat. I think that if I had waited a couple of minutes in between coats, that would have been enough, but I’m always so impatient!

OPI Keeping Suzi At Bay 1

OPI Keeping Suzi At Bay 2

Have you had enough of delicious blues yet? If not, OPI Keeping Suzi At Bay is definitely going to fit the bill. The formula was nice but again, I think I created some bald spots by not waiting enough time in between coats so I ended up applying 3 coats.

OPI Lost In Lombard 1

OPI Lost In Lombard 2

And lastly, here is another red: OPI Lost In Lombard. The formula was nice and very pigmented so I didn’t have any application issues after two smooth coats.

So, now that you have seen the cremes in the OPI San Francisco Collection, what do you think? I’m a little conflicted because on the one hand, I think these all have a pretty good formula which is always appreciated AND they are beautiful, but are they really original? Nope. I consider half of these staple colors which means that you probably already have some dupes in your stash. My two favorites from the cremes are Incognito in Sausalito and In The Cable Car-pool Lane because they are just so rich and beautiful and I can see myself wearing them the most often out of all of these. The other two reds feel a little recycled in my opinion but then again, I am a polish hoarder so I may be biased. I am really looking forward to swatching the last 6 polishes in this collection because despite my preference for creme finishes, I think that the shimmers in my last post are going to win me over BIG TIME. I hope to have those for you guys by Wednesday. Ahhhh….so many pretty polishes and so little time! Thanks for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

Hello to all of you out there in polishland. I bring you tidy greeting from a gloomy Sunday in So Cal…and I have no idea why I started my post out like this since I sound a little psychotic. Oh well. I don’t normally work on Sundays so I was really bummed that I had to come in at 6 am. Isn’t Sunday supposed to be the day of rest? Apparently not where I work. Ha! Since I only had Saturday off this past week, I was feeling really bummed because I basically spent my whole Saturday either cleaning or swatching. I think I ended up swatching around 12 polishes and then I had to take a break because my skin was spazing out. It seriously started peeling and getting crazy dry even though I was applying cuticle oil and hand crème after every single polish application and removal.

While I was typing up this post, I had to deal with two horrible customers. Without getting into too many details about my job and what I do, these people were being completely unreasonable even though the issue they were having was completely of their doing. There is a reason why products have labels. READ THE LABEL, PEOPLE. I can admit that I am one of those dumbasses who does not read labels, but I would never think of calling the company that made the product to blame them for product issues. If I don’t read the label and I fuck up my project, who do I have to blame? Apparently, we live in a culture where we always have to find someone to blame and not take responsibility for our own actions. BLARGHHHH! I hate people sometimes.

Anyway, let’s move away from stupid people and back to pretty polish. YAAAAAAAAAY! Today I have 2 polishes from the inaugural collection from Charme Lacquers called Los Angeles. I am a Southern California gal born and raised so I was happy to see this although I’m not from LA but OC.

The Los Angeles collection from Charme Lacquers is made of 6 different polishes and today I have Melrose and Mulholland to share with you. Let’s take a look at them.

Melrose 1

Melrose 2

When I first saw Melrose, I kept thinking of pink cupcakes with sprinkles. It’s definitely a very girlie color which I surprisingly really liked. Unfortunately, I found the application very challenging. The polish was very goopy and thick—so much so, that I didn’t want to apply it without adding some thinner. Even after adding thinner, it was difficult to work with. I applied 3 coats for the swatches above but think that this polish might be better as a layering topcoat over an opaque base color. I did contact the maker and she was very open to hearing about my experience with the polish and said she would take my comments into account when making future batches. A+ for responsiveness and customer service! I think this is one of the HUGE benefits of purchasing from an indie brand: they actually listen to their customers!

Mulholland 1

Mulholland 2

Mulholland is a purple jelly—the stuff purple lover’s dreams are made of. While this polish was also a tad thicker than I am used to (but nowhere near as thick as Melrose), I added a few drops of thinner and that fixed it right up. I am not usually a huge fan of jellies in general, but this one is so vibrant that it just won me over. I applied 3 coats for the swatches above, but I probably could have gotten away with two. I didn’t have much trouble with the placement of the glitter except for the large circle glitters which I will try to fish out next time because I’m a circle glitter fiend.

Overall, I was happy with my polish choices and I am looking forward to what else Charme Lacquers puts out. Make sure that you check out Charme Lacquers at their various social media sites to keep up with swatches and news:

Guess who’s having a girl…

Guess who’s having a girl…

Nicole from Polish Me, Please! is! Yes, you heard right. After tons of speculation about the sex of her baby who refused to cooperate during her ultrasounds, she finally got confirmation that she will be having a girl. Awww! I am so very happy for Nicole and her husband (and Minnie and Bubba too!) because their life is going to be turned upside down in the most wonderful of ways. I am excited about joining this gender reveal extravaganza with some of the loveliest ladies I have had the honor to get to know. Since we had to wait so long to find out if Nicole is going to have a boy or a girl, we’ve been joking with her that she is actually having a Unicorn who is now affectionately known as Helleborine Bonny Rump. Here is the mani I created to celebrate the fact that Helleborine finally cooperated!

Helleborine Bonny Rump 1

I started by painting my nails with the following China Glaze polishes from left to right: Dance Baby, Pink-ie Promise, Something Sweet and Light As Air.

Helleborine Bonny Rump 2

I then used a dotting took to place some dots on 3 of my nails. I absolutely love dotticures so this is the first thing I thought of. On my middle finger, I stamped a unicorn image using Winstonia plate W117.

So there you have it ladies! Please join us in congratulating Nicole for finally finding out that she will be having a girl.

You can check out some other gender reveal manis here:

Hey there, lovahs. I was super glad for Friday because I have two scheduled days off in a row. Yay for having Saturday and Sunday off! And then I was asked to work on Sunday…womp, womp. While I could have said no, I am very conscious of the fact that I could really use the extra moola now that I have this new expense with the car. So of course I said yes which means that this week, I will be working over 50 hours. That may not seem like a lot to some of you, but I feel old, damnit! I need my rest. I know that I’m *only* 33, but I just feel like it takes me so long to get used to a new schedule and my body just needs more rest and sleep. Can you remember being in your late teens/early twenties and basically needing about 2 hours of sleep? How else could you party all night and go to class at 8 am like if that was perfectly normal? Do I sound bitter about getting older? Anyway, enough of my complaining and let’s move on to the polish.

When the OPI San Francisco Collection arrived, I was in nail polish nirvana. I ripped open the boxes like they were holding the last Twinkie on earth, but this was me when I saw that there were THREE Liquid Sands, and two of them did NOT have any sparkle:

I know…I know. Is every collection from now on going to include some kind of texture polish?
Anyway, let me tell you why I am now eating my words.

OPI Wharf! Wharf! Wharf! 1

OPI Wharf! Wharf! Wharf! 2

If you’re a dramatic blue lover, you’re going to love OPI Wharf! Wharf! Wharf! This baby is crazy pigmented and just makes your nails the center of attention. I wasn’t that excited about this polish at first because it’s a flat textured polish without any sparkle. No glitter in a Liquid Sand makes me a sad panda. However, this grew on me the more I wore it.

OPI It's All San Andrea's Fault 1

OPI It's All San Andrea's Fault 2

This is the polish that will fulfill the wet dream of anyone looking for an amazing neutral WITH texture. OPI It’s All San Andrea’s Fault is a beautiful milk chocolate neutral that I can see myself getting away with during more conservative settings without sacrificing the fun factor.

OPI Alcatraz...Rocks 1

OPI Alcatraz...Rocks 2

OPI Alcatraz…Rocks is the polish I was most looking forward to from the three Liquid Sands and I can tell you that it does NOT disappoint. Holy crap this polish is gorgeous! It’s full of so much sparkle that it makes up for the lack of glitter in the other two. As soon as I put on this baby, I thought of Sean Connery:

I’m kind of in love with Sean Connery so I was not about to pass up an opportunity to share this clip!

Overall, I am pleasantly surprised. The formula on all three polishes was identical: pigmented, easy to apply and perfect at two coats. I wasn’t expecting to like the first two because they are the usual popcorn ceiling texture, but I think the colors really won me over. Of course I knew that I was going to like Alcatraz…Rocks so it’s no big surprise that it turned out to be my absolute favorite. I decided to break up my post for the San Francisco Collection into three parts because there are 15 polishes in all, and I didn’t want to have such a picture heavy post. I’ll be posting the other 2 parts in the coming days so make sure that you check back. I have so many freaking things to share with you that I don’t even know how I’m going to get all the swatching done. Ok…ok…I’m not really complaining about having so many new polishes because that would just be nuts! Amiright or amiright?! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will catch up with you later.

Happy Hump Day! Ok, that sounded totally lame but I’m kind of in a good mood today. Of course now I’m waiting for something to blow up in my face and ruin my recent streak of good luck. Why do we always have to wait and expect bad things to happen? Self-fulfilling prophecy anyone? It’s super warm here today, and I don’t have AC so painting my nails is always interesting because I always think that I can have the fan going while I paint them. And I mean I have the fan going full blast directly on me. If you have ever tried this, you know it’s practically impossible. But does that ever stop me from trying? Nope.

Today I have another Morgan Taylor creme beauty. Seriously: if you love creme polishes, you have to get your hands on some Morgan Taylor polishes. The amazing formula of these polishes really make them worth the hunt if you don’t necessarily have them in your area. Let’s take a look at this indigo-violet pretty…

Morgan_Taylor_Super_Ultra_Violet1

Morgan_Taylor_Super_Ultra_Violet2

Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer Super Ultra Violet is one of those dark vampy colors that are so hot during the fall. I have to admit that while this color is not exactly unique (I’m sure I have a few dupes!), the formula really makes this a stand-out. It’s practically a one coater and it dries incredibly smooth and glossy.

MASH40_ Silver Mercedes1

MASH40_ Silver Mercedes2

Yay for stamping! I got this swirly design from Mash plate MASH 40 and of course I had to use the absolute best silver stamping polish that I own: Pure Ice Silver Mercedes. For a $1.99, you really can’t beat it.

I’ve been a little MIA on the blog and FB mostly because I’ve been busy with working a lot of overtime. Since I now have that new car payment, I decided to work as many extra hours as I can–otherwise, there will be no pretty polishes in my future. I’ve been really good lately (especially with my blog sale), and I hope I can keep working on that until maybe early August when I will have a visitor who is just as polish obsessed as me. I’m sure we’re going to DESTROY my usual polish haunts. For those of you who have ordered and paid for your polishes, I promise to get them out by Friday. I’m so sorry for the delay! I still have a few emails pending and I promise to get back to you by tomorrow. With all the OT at work, I’ve had to deal with some really horrid customers; Lord beer me strength.

So what do you think of Super Ultra Violet? Is this a color that you would wear? What about the stamping? Yay or nay? Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

Hello there! I hope your Monday was nice and productive. Mine was not. Work was pretty busy so the day kind of flew by. Isn’t that a good thing? I’m kind of tired, though, because I just couldn’t fall asleep last night. I had this crazy dream that was a combination of The Skeleton Key (the Kate Hudson movie) and every single paranormal movie that has a creepy forest scene. Apparently in my dream, I was going to get killed if I went into the forest so of course I kept trying to go there in the middle of the night. I think I have some weird thoughts about Louisiana in my head.

For my post today, I have another green beauty: Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer Supreme in Green. Yes, it really is supreme…like The Supremes.

Supreme In Green 1

Supreme In Green 2

Supreme In Green 3

Supreme in Green is one of those pastel minty green colors that look so gorgeous in the Spring and Summer. What I really love about this polish is that it is super smooth and creamy which is not always the case with pastel greens. A lot of them tend to be really harsh and chalky but this one is buttery perfection. Green polishes also tend to give me langosta hands as I like to call them–or lobster hands in case you don’t speak Spanish–but this one didn’t do that too badly.

So, other than a pretty decent Monday, nothing has been going on my end. I’m still loving my new car. I don’t recall if I mentioned what kind of car I bought, but I got a 2013 Nissan Sentra SV. I like it a lot!

I had my last Sentra for 12 years so I think they are pretty darn reliable cars and I just think they are small and cute. I’m not one to be all into cars, but I just love driving it around. Since I now have a new car payment, I’ve been trying to get rid of some polishes on my blog sale so make sure you check them out. I have a bunch of Morgan Taylor pretties on there in case you’re interested. Thank so much for stopping by today and I will talk to you soon. Stay cool!

I’m feeling completely down and dejected lately because of my car issues. I went to a dealership yesterday and to say that the experience was horrid is an understatement. They tried to get me into a used car for $3,000 down and $400 a month for 72 months–that means that I would be paying close to $30,000 for a car that is worth $10,00 if that. Sweet Satan’s butthole! Is that ridiculous or what? I mean, I know my credit is NOT good, but do I need to be impaled up the butt with a financial cactus at every turn? So, I walked away from that feeling like the worst loser on the planet, and I’m still carless. I know that in the grand scheme of things, these are very minor problems, but they feel so overwhelming right now. While I figure things out, I will probably be posting less because I don’t want every single post to be a diatribe of self-pity. You guys have been so awesome and encouraging, so I really appreciate it.

So, despite my craptacular issues, I still want to share pretty polishes with you. Today I have another Jindie Nails limited edition polish for Summer 2013. Since I’m currently obsessed with pink, especially hot pink, Jindie Nails Moon Walk is right up my alley.

Moonwalk 1

Moonwalk 2

Moonwalk 3

Jindie Nails Moon walk is a limited edition polish for Summer 2013 so make sure that you pick this one up if you love the hot pink jelly base with an awesome combination of black and silver chunky glitter (dots, and half moons!) The formula is shimmery–almost like a glass fleck type finish. This polish is a little sheer so 2 coats are necessary to get good coverage. I did have some trouble getting the bigger pieces of glitter out of the bottle so the next time that I wear this, I’ll probably fish out the glitter and place it where I want it.

So what do you think of this polish? Will you be picking it up? To keep up with Jindie Nails news, make sure that you follow Jen at the following:

And here is how a little error in my order ends up benefiting you! One of the polishes I had ordered was left off my shipment and when I contacted Jen about it, she not only fixed it but graciously included an extra polish for a giveaway. This is the first of two polishes that I will be giving away so stay tuned! As an aside, I want to tell you guys that Jen has amazing customer service and will always stand by her products which is rare nowadays. Please use the rafflecopter widget below to enter for a chance to win a FULL SIZED bottle of Jindie Nails Moon Walk. This giveaway is open worldwide, but PLEASE don’t enter if you know that your country has a lot of restrictions regarding shipping/receiving nail polish. Nothing will make me sadder than to mail a polish and hear that it got confiscated at customs.

Happy Monday! Not. I hope you had a nice weekend, though. I ended up doing pretty much nothing on Sunday except for some cleaning, laundry and just general laziness. It actually felt pretty good and now I’m just mentally preparing myself for another horrible work week. I switched my days off for the next few weeks so now I’ll be working M-F and will have the weekends off. I can’t even explain how great it feels to have two days off in a row. Unfortunately, that means that now I will have to work 5 days in a row. I also agreed to work some overtime which I normally wouldn’t, but since I missed 3 days of work the other week when I got the flu, I really should make up those hours somehow. How else am I going to be able to buy all the pretty polishes I want?!?!?! More on my impending polish moratorium at the end of this post. Anywho, today I have some Lush Lacquer babies to share with you, and I’m kind of excited about them because I had never tried the brand before. Let’s take a look at these three new pretties below…

Blurple 1

Blurple 3

Freckles 3

Lush Lacquer Freckles layered over Cacee BFF Nail Lacquer Daisy

Splish Splash 1

Splish Splash 2

Splish Splash 3

Lush Lacquer Splish Splash layered over Morgan Taylor Lacquer Supreme In Green

These are pretty cool layering polishes, and I love how many interesting combinations I could possibly come up with. Would I buy these in full size? Probably not. I think the mini sizes suit me just fine. They were all very easy to apply and the formula was pretty smooth, but I did feel that it was incredibly hard to get the bigger pieces of glitter to come out of the bottle. In fact, I barely even got any of the big hexes on my nails at all! That made me kind of sad, but I really didn’t want to go all nuts trying to fish out the big glitter.

So my news today is that my car finally kicked the bucket. It was diagnosed as terminal about a year ago, and I was refusing to part with it. I was convinced that I would ride it until its death and that death came today. Being carless in Southern California is a pox. I don’t know how people do it, but I just can’t function without a car. I wouldn’t be so concerned if we had decent public transportation, but the bus is a joke in Orange County and I start work at 5am. I do not want to be walking to the bus stop at 4am. Does the bus even run at 4 am? So now I am in a financial shit-house of my own making. If I could stop buying polish, I’d probably have more than enough money for a good down payment by now. Let’s see if I can ride my melmers to work…can I pay the car dealership in Chanel, Tom Ford, Dior or YSL nail polish? A lot of the excuses I made for buying crazy amounts of polish (and a lot of expensive polish) revolved around the facts that:

1) I am single.

2) I have no kids.

3) I don’t buy a lot of clothes or shoes

4) I can do whatever I want since I only have to worry about myself

Well, Cynthia, the polish gravy train has come to an abrupt and semi-permanent stop. By the way, I initially typed “gravy boat” and then I made the horrid decision to google gravy boat. All I have to say is do not look it up on urban dictionary because you will probably throw up a little. Anyway, since I now have to buy a new car, I really won’t be able to spend money on nail polish which makes me sad but also forces me to take a look at my polish obsession.  I don’t know what to think about it because, while I love my nail polish, I also realize I’m spending way too much money on it when I could be saving for my future or for an emergency! This situation is going to force me to prioritize my spending. I will probably have to come up with a budget so I can know exactly where my money is going and where I can cut back. There may be times when I have to choose between food and polish. I’m not going to lie: polish may win from time to time–besides, I really do need to lose some weight.

I’ll let you guys know how things go with my car/transportation situation. I’m trying not to get all bummed out about it, and so far it’s going pretty well. I’m having an amusing time on twitter with the hashtag #thingstomakemyselffeelbetter. One thing I’m super happy about is that I am able to handle this calmly without spazing out to the max which wouldn’t have been possible even a year ago–this would have crushed me! Please send me good thoughts; they will be very much appreciated!

P.S. You looked up “gravy boat” didn’t you?

P.P.S. I’m probably going to start up another massive blog sale to raise some cash. Anyone want to by my Jessica polishes from the Bright Wings Collection? Look at my review here. Swatched once and $4.00 each. Just adding this here for the peeps who read my whole posts. LOL Send me an email if you want them.

Friday is here! I’m a little jealous that most of you who are in the US are enjoying an extra long weekend due to the 4th of July holiday. Unfortunately, I worked today and will work tomorrow so poo to this company that doesn’t respect holidays. Anyway, I can be bitter about it but it won’t do me any good so I’ll just keep amusing myself with pretty polishes. Today I’m super excited to be showing you 3 of the 5 polishes that are part of the Jindie Nails Summer Chic Collection!

Hex On The Beach 1

Hex On The Beach 2

Hex On The Beach 3

Hex On The Beach is one of those white crelly polishes that Jen does so well! I felt this one was a little difficult to work with because of the larger glitters. I had a hard time applying the glitter evenly until I added a few drops of thinner and stored the bottle upside down for a few minutes. I applied 3 coats here to get an even look on the milky base.

Quit Staring At My Melons 1

Quit Staring At My Melons 2

Quit Staring At My Melons 3

Quit Staring At My Melons! is a glitter topper extraordinaire. I kept thinking of cantaloupes when I saw this polish which is why I decided to go with a cantaloupe-colored polish. Now I’m obsessed with trying this out on a light green like the flesh of a honeydew melon. The glitter was super easy to apply and I got a nice even glitter distribution with one coat.

Don't Get Citrus Twisted 1

Don't Get Citrus Twisted 2

Don't Get Citrus Twisted 3

Don’t Get Citrus Twisted is my absolute favorite polish from this collection. In fact, it might just be my favorite Summer polish of 2013. I love the combination of the bright pastel green base, yellow, pink and green glitter. I swear I am absolutely obsessed with this polish. I applied 2 thick-ish coats here, and I felt the base was very pigmented and the glitter was easy to apply. Seriously–if there is one gorgeous summer polish that you must get, it’s this one.

The other two colors that I am missing from this collection are That Purple Ish and Betty’s Fetti Milkshake, and I will probably end up picking them up since I’m such a polish hoarder. I have a couple other Jindie babies to show you next week, and also get ready for a Jindie Nails giveaway coming soon. To keep up with Jindie Nails news, make sure that you follow Jen at the following:

So, what do you think about these pretties? Are you a Jindie nails fanatic? Which is your favorite from the 3 polishes I shared with you today? I hope you’re staying cool–I’ll talk to you soon!

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to order a bunch of Bettina polishes. Nine polishes, to be exact, and I learned a very important lesson: always google swatches before you order nail polish online. I ordered the whole Bettina Picnic collection sight unseen and I got an unpleasant surprised: they were all shimmers when I thought I was ordering cremes. Don’t get me wrong, they are pretty, but I really had my heart set on cremes since that is my favorite finish. Don’t worry, though: someone already bought the whole collection from me so they will be getting a lot of love in another home. So I ended up with just 3 of the original 9 polishes but don’t feel bad for me because they are the most amazingly creamy and delicious creams my tan chubby fingers have gotten a hold of in a really long time. Let me show you what I’m talking about.

I was not lying when I said that these three polishes are creme perfection. Just look at them!! They are shiny and smooth and oh so pretty. I can never resist a beautiful creme and the formula on these babies is just amazing. I will forever be a Bettina fan and I can’t wait to get my hands on more of these pretties. I’m super happy that I have two days off where I can just be lazy and not have to worry about my horrible job. So after work, my brother and I decided to go to Target to purchase some stuff we needed. Since it was too hot to cook, I ended up picking up this massive sandwich for dinner. This meat behemoth is a Torta Cubana:

This is only HALF of the torta and I only ate half of this before I wanted to die from meat overload. This thing had milanesa (breaded/fried steak), chorizo and ham along with all the various topping. Holy crap this is the King of Sandwiches. It made me think of how much Joey liked sandwiches on Friends which then in turn reminds me of one of my favorite episodes:

LMAO!!! I love how he was trying to shield his sandwich from the car backfire that they initially thought was a gunshot. I miss this show!

Well, I hope you’ve had a nice day today.  In case you don’t follow me on FB, I am giving away a bottle of Morgan Taylor Lacquer Nautically Inclined. In order to enter, just go to my post for Nautically Inclined here and leave a comment. I will choose a winner on Friday! Good luck and thanks for stopping by today.
