KBShimmer What Does This Mean? – PPU & IPU June 2019

KBShimmer What Does This Mean? – PPU & IPU June 2019

I know that I talk a lot about the weather because it directly affects my mood, but this time I’m talking about the weather since it’s the theme for June’s Polish/Indie Pickup! I’ve pretty much caught up on my swatching obligations so I’m enjoying just wearing pretty polish for more than a day or two. I actually rounded off my nails so I’ll be sporting that shape for a while. As much as I like my squoval nails, I feel that they are more prone to breaking which will not work well for me during the move. Today I am going to share with you swatches of KBShimmer What Does This Mean? as well as a new scrub for IPU. Let’s take a look at my swatches below. Darling Diva Color4Nails Group Customs November 2018

Hello friends! I’m currently on day 3 of my vacation, and I am being beyond lazy. For these last three days, I get up, shower, put on PJ’s and repeat at night. Ahhhh…that’s the life! Today I’m going to have to actually do stuff since Thanksgiving dinner preparations must start early. I did a bunch of swatching before I filed my nails all the way down so I’ll have a few weeks of nail rest. Today I have the Darling Diva Color4Nails Group Customs for November 2018 so let’s take a look at my swatches below. Continue reading “Darling Diva Color4Nails Group Customs November 2018”

Sally Hansen Crayola Spring Fling Collection

Sally Hansen Crayola Spring Fling Collection

I don’t know about you, but I remember that as a kid, one of my greatest joys was opening up a brand new box of crayons. Crayola was always my brand of choice, and I would beg my mom to get me the biggest box they had. As silly as it may sound, I would refrain from even using my crayons because I did not want them to lose their point. Seems like not much has changed since currently I don’t use some polishes because I don’t want to “run out.” I am always excited to see new shades of Sally Hansen Crayola polishes and today I have three of them to share with you. Let’s take a look at my swatches of select shades from the Sally Hansen Crayola Spring Fling Collection below. Continue reading “Sally Hansen Crayola Spring Fling Collection”

Today is my first day back to work after a 4 day weekend…oh the horror! Actually, I kinda miss work–it’s the waking up part that I have a problem with. I was talking to a couple of friends about how exhausted I am all the time no matter how much I sleep. I think that a big thing contributing to my exhaustion is that I still don’t have total control of my diabetes so my body is still flipping out. How many time have I said that working out will probably make me feel a lot better? Probably more than I can count but I’m stil dragging my feet. Sweet baby Jesus, help me get back on the right path. I’m so sick of feeling so shitty yet I continue to make bad choices. It’s a neverending cycle! Anyway, despite the exhaustion, I still seem to find plenty of time to play with nail polish. Who needs naps when you can have fabulous nails?! Yesterday I got a package from Cirque Colors that contained the February release for their Metropolis Collection: Cirque Colors Doyers. Before I show you the polish, let me show you the state of my nails in the ongoing overbuffing saga.

1I decided to round off my little dagger nails a bit, because they were just a little too pointy. The damage is growing out slowly but I think that this shape is helping me avoid more nasty breaks. To be honest, I’m really liking this shape–it has a retro vibe to it. I know a lot of you prefer my square nails, but let me show you what they look like with polish.

Cirque Colors Doyers 1Cirque Colors Doyers 2Let me tell you that I have a love/hate relationship with red nail polish. It’s like I really want to love red nails, but then I just find them too in your face. Does that even make sense considering the crazy nails I post regularly on here? Well, I can tell you that Doyers does not disappoint. It’s such a bright and luscious red with a flawless formula. You can get away with one coat if you apply it carefully and it is so shiny!!!!

Well, what do you think of my new (temporary?) nail shape? And most importantly, what do you think of the polish? It’s such a classic red that I was singing The Police’s Roxanne while I was doing my nails. This new addition to the Metropolis collection becomes available on February 1st and you can buy it here where it will retail for $13.  Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

Usually I look forward to Wednesdays so much because I don’t work on Wednesdays. However, a few weeks ago I had agreed to work overtime and completely forgot until my manager sent me a reminder on Tuesday. Working on my day off?

290Do you know how much it sucks to not have two consecutive days off? I feel like I never have enough time to do anything or really have a break. However, I could always use the extra cash for polish…I mean bills…I mean polish. I only worked half a day so I guess technically it wasn’t that bad, but I had a bunch of errands to do and also needed to do a bunch of laundry. Now I’m doing laundry instead of playing with my nephew the entire time. Harrumph! Anyway, I did get a chance to swatch a couple of polishes earlier in the week that Krys from Vapid Lacquer had sent me. These are some delicious linear holos so I hope you enjoy the rainbow.

Vapid Lacquer In The Pink 1Vapid Lacquer In The Pink 2Vapid Lacquer In The Pink is a great pink holo that comes alive in sunlight. I tried to swatch both of these in direct sunlight for about 3 days, but every time I was ready it became overcast–every single time! I had to use my light box and some different lighting to get this to show the awesome holo. The formula is a little sheer so I applied 3 coats for my swatches above. You guys know I love pink nail polish, so I love this. The only thing I want to make you aware of is that this polish stained my nails a lot. I had bright pink nails after I removed this and not even pure acetone helped so I buffed them lightly to get rid of the staining. I didn’t wear a base coat when I swatched it so I do recommend a good base coat to minimize any staining.

Vapid Lacquer Grape Stomp 1Vapid Lacquer Grape Stomp 2As an avid purple lover, I was instantly in love with Vapid Lacquer Grape Stomp. It is such a vibrant purple with a strong holo effect. In direct sunlight, the linear holo effect is much more pronounced–it’s absolutely gorgeous. This also needed three coats for full opacity and did not stain at all.

Overall, I am very happy with my first experience with Vapid Lacquer. I have three other polishes from this brand that I will be sharing with you later this week and they are all very pretty. Both of these polishes can be purchase at the Vapid Lacquer shop for $9.50 each for a full size bottle and $5.00 for a mini. Let me know what you think about these beautiful holos. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

OPI Partners with Music and Fashion Icon

Gwen Stefani to Launch Limited Edition Nail Lacquers, Featuring Breakthrough Finishes

OPI joins celebrity partner Gwen Stefani in announcing seven new limited edition nail lacquers for 2014, featuring standout color in breakthrough finishes. Highlights from the collection include a bold red lacquer that pays homage to Gwen’s signature lipstick, a new semi-matte satin finish in shades of gold and black, and a mirrored chrome paired with a special base coat.

Inspired by the 2013 Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala that featured the theme “Punk: Chaos to Couture,” OPI Executive VP and Artistic Director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann decided to create a collection of lacquer celebrating the role of music as a major influence in fashion. “With her expertise as a singer, songwriter and designer, who better to collaborate with than Gwen Stefani?” asks Weiss-Fischmann. “Known for her trademark red lips, bold eye makeup and nail art, Gwen uses beauty to accessorize her style.”

Gwen’s signature red OPI hue – Over & Over A-Gwen – is available in a boxed set, which includes Swarovski black crystals and silver, gold and pewter studs in bar, square, diamond and circle shapes for creating unique nail designs, as well as nail glue for easy application. Love.Angel.Music.Baby. and 4 in the Morning feature a new, semi-matte satin finish designed to be worn without top coat. Push and Shove, a bold chrome hue, is also worn without top coat but requires a special complimentary base coat – Lay Down that Base. One thin coat of Lay Down that Base topped with two thin coats of Push and Shove yields an intense, mirrored finish. The collection is rounded out with two glossy crème lacquers and one sparkly glitter shade: Hey Baby, I Sing in Color, and In True Stefani Fashion.

OPI wanted to create a collection as dramatic, diverse and glamorous as its namesake,” adds Weiss-Fischmann. “With crème and glitter hues, new satin matte texture, a mirrored chrome and SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS, Gwen Stefani by OPI presents the latest in pigments and finishes, while combining elements of haute couture and street fashion.”

Gwen Stefani by OPI includes the following seven limited edition nail lacquers: Hey Baby, I Sing in Color, Love.Angel.Music.Baby., 4 in the Morning, In True Stefani Fashion, Push and Shove* and Over & Over A-Gwen**.

Oh my nail Gods, you guys!!!! I got this press release when I was at work and I literally squealed with excitement which my neighbors did not appreciate since I startled them. I absolutely adore Gwen Stefani so I really can’t wait to get my hands on this collection. I’ve loved Gwen and No Doubt foh-eva and still remember those high school days when I would sit in my room and belt out Don’t Speak. Yes, I was a total emo teenager. Is there any other kind? Anyway, what do you think? Are you as excited about this as I am?
