Butter London Wallis

I was super excited this morning because I landed an interview for tomorrow morning and then I got called back to see if I could come in on Monday instead. WAH WAH WAH!!!

I swear that I heard that noise in my head when I got that call. Sometimes I think that my life truly has a soundtrack and, sadly, most of the sounds can be found on Looney Toons Cartoons. Anyway, I am glad they called to reschedule and not cancel so now I just have to wait until Monday. I was already planning out my outfit–black suit, cream colored blouse and some “sensible” black pumps. Oh my God I am a grown up!!!!!!!! I was also trying to decided what to do with my nails. I was vacillating between a french manicure or Butter London All Hail The Queen but since the interview got rescheduled, I decided to do something a little more interesting today. I was already looking through my Butter Londons so I decided to use Wallis.

I knew I wanted to do some dots and also mattify everything so I took at out polishes and tools that I would need: Butter London Wallis, China Glaze Liquid Leather, Essie Matte About You and a dotting tool.

Butter London Wallis Swatch

When I first bought Butter London Wallis, I honestly thought that it was kind of ugly: one of those polishes I wouldn’t buy from looking at it in the bottle unless it was on super sale.  I love this brand so I decided to give it a chance because that’s what polish hoarders do. This polish is pretty darn pigmented and easy to apply so all I needed was two coats.

Butter London Wallis Matte

I can’t remember where I first saw Wallis mattified, but I fell in love with it. Look at it!!! It has this amazing depth to it and the color changes and looks almost velvety. I have a few mattifying top coats that I rotate but they all pretty much work the same. If you’re looking for an inexpensive matte top coat, I recommend NYC Matte Me Crazy which can be purchased for $2–can’t beat that price!

Butter London Wallis Black Dots

Can you tell that I love dots? I am really diggin’ this dotticure. I thought about mattifying the whole thing but I ended up liking the contrast of the shiny black dots. There is seriously no easier way to spruce up a manicure than to bust out a dotting tool.

While I was editing this post, I was also talking to Nicole on twitter and I told her that I was going to make an egg and chorizo burrito. We then proceeded to have a conversation about what kind of chorizo to use and how to prepare it. Nicole likes to say that she’s Mexican on the inside…I guess I can let her keep that honorary title since she did try to use the word “carniceria” nonchalantly during our conversation. You may thank Nicole for the following…

Crumble some chorizo and cook it in a skillet. This is my special omelette skillet! You should drain some of the fat that the chorizo releases because it’s A LOT. I use 1 egg yolk and 3 egg whites and scramble them.

I then pour the beaten eggs into the hot skillet with the chorizo and scramble them together. You can add salt and pepper at this time if you like. Take your favorite flour tortilla and warm it up. Once the tortilla is warm, place the egg and chorizo filling on the flour tortilla. Some people might want to add some cheese but I prefer it without. Make sure that you don’t overcook the eggs because they will continue to cook when you roll the whole thing up.

And voilà…here is your egg and chorizo burrito. I love this for breakfast, but I really felt like eating this tonight for dinner. The egg and chorizo mixture will make 2 burritos in case you were wondering.

Well, I hope you liked my Wallis dotticure and my burrito! Thanks for catching up with me today and talk to you soon.

    1. Thank you! I knew things were going to start looking up once the holidays passed. 🙂 I can’t put all my eggs in one basket so I’m still sending out those resumes like my life depended on it–which it does! lol Wallis is one of those pretty/ugly polishes. I don’t think I would wear it often if it wasn’t for the matte top coat.

  1. 1.) I absolutely adore this manicure! Wallis is one of my favorite polishes of all times and one of the first BL’s I ever splurged on. Plus, you use dots in ways I can’t seem to think of. Why haven’t I done this design yet?? This is why you’re my polish bestie. <3

2.) I read and loved your novel of a comment when I randomly woke up in the middle of the night last night since I was restless and nervous about my first day. I'm popes from hiking all over the desert today but I super duper promise to write you an equally spectacular novel of a response. And finally reply to emails… lol I'm terrible at timely responses.

Good luck on your interview on Monday, what a bummer that they postponed it! Buuuuut, if they thought you were important enough to reschedule then they must want to really see you. Plus, I'd rather be interviewed on a Monday anyway, that way you don't have to sweat it all weekend.

    1. I always passed on this BL when there were crazy bogo sales until that coterie deal where I got three polishes for $11. Seeing it now, I can’t believe I passed on it for so long because it really is gorgeous mattified. Even if I don’t get this job, I think it’s going to help me start on a roll of interviews which is what I really need to help me stay positive. I’m glad that you survived your first day of work! How was it?

I do need a lot of luck for Monday. I was looking forward to getting out of the way tomorrow because the recruiter told me that the company is looking to make a decision on the spot–sounds kinda weird but I appreciate that they’re not going to drag it all out.

      1. My first day was amazing, and so was the second! Really it wasn’t like a first day at all since I’d worked with them before and we were so friendly. Plus, its a very casual atmosphere which is nice.

I know you’re going to to spectacularly well on Monday, and even if they don’t see how awesome you are the experience will be good and you’ll nail the next one.

        1. It’s really great that your first couple of days at your job have been good. I’m sure it made you feel better that you already technically knew everyone. 🙂

I can’t wait for Monday–I get nervous beforehand, but I feel pretty confident once I’m in the interview. It would be a great stroke of luck if I get this because it’s super close to where I live so I wouldn’t have an annoying ass commute. I hope it works out!

  2. No Joke, I ate a breakfast burrito with egg, potato and chorizo with green chili and cheese for dinner tonight! (and maybe a chili rellano too… le sigh, such a fat kid.)

    1. lol…great minds think alike! I usually add potatoes in this type of burrito as well but I was too lazy to chop some up today. I kind of want your dinner instead. My little burrito seems kinda sad now. hahaha

    1. Pffft! Frijoles refritos is like the #1 staple in Mexican food. 😛 I do eat them a lot. I should probably make some tacos for dinner tonight. I am hoping the interview goes well…i just want to get it over with already! 🙂

  3. The right job will find you & they will be lucky to have you! I really enjoy seeing your nails, they are so beautiful, long or short! The past few years my nails have had issues, splitting & peeling. I’ve tried acrylics-big mistake! Various nail hardeners, vitamins, keeping them short, nothing helps. Do you have any recommendations on hardeners that work?

    1. Thanks, my dear! I tried acrylics for a few years because it was the only way I was able to stop biting my nails and cuticles, but you are right–they kind of destroy your nails. I’ve never really had any peeling issues with my nails, but they were kind of weak at one point where they were breaking a lot. I like to take Biotin supplements which is supposed to help your hair and nails. I always make sure to moisturize my cuticles and nails (CND Solar Oil is my favorite). For hardners, I like to use Nail-Aid products. They have a Collagen builder that I really like and it really makes your nails feel really strong. I’ve never tried OPI Nail Envy, but I have heard a lot of people swear by it.

  4. What an awesome manicure! It will of course not surprise you that I prefer Wallis non-matte, but I do like the effect of this combination! Why have I not used Wallis yet, again? Nail fail!
YUM, egg & chorizo burritos! I get cravings for them from time to time. I bet my brother would be all about me making them for him, hahaha, but that is just not happening right now. 🙂
Oh, that is so awesome that the commute is short, too! Yay!

  5. I don’t even know what I like more!!!
You know I have this affair with golds but krap! I really love this colour!!! It’s so different. Reminds me of liquid gold! I don’t know?!?! It’s stunning!
I love it un-matte and matted. OMG, LOVE all things matte and then polka dots, I just can’t love anything more!
A matte top coat is one thing on my wishlist. Tip top has for R40 ($4) but none of the stores here has it so I must buy it directly from them for R60 ($6)! You have noooo idea how krap it is that it’s so cheap yet so far out my grasp due to being broke BUT it’s my mission to get this year! Just waiting for some orders OR a job!
