American Classic Dramatic Blue

Today I have another installment of Polishes From The Mesozoic Era. This is another one of those polishes that I picked up a few weeks ago at my favorite dusty. As you may be able to tell in the pictures below, some of the lettering on the bottle has rubbed off, and I didn’t really recognize the brand. I was drawn in by the steel blue color and the pink shimmer. The label at the bottom told me that this color is called Dramatic Blue by American Classic. It also mentioned that it came from the Vogue Collection. Eh? I’ve never heard of American Classic so when I got home I looked it up. It appears that American Classic is the company that makes Gelous. I could not find any information about actual nail polish colors because it seems that they only have a range of base/top coats and treatments. How old is this polish?!?! I’m super curious and will continue to search until I find my answer.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I find this polish very unique! I have no idea how old it is, but I wasn’t surprised that the consistency seemed a little thick. I didn’t shake it enough and maybe a couple of drops of thinner would help it. I am going to look through the rest of the colors the next time I go to my dusty. Can you think of any other similar colors? Do you know anything about this line of nail polishes? If you have any information, please leave me a note.

And lastly, after my Aroma Café post from last night, I had been craving Starbucks. How can coffee make me so happy?

Stay classy and when all else fails, paint your nails. (This could be my new tagline! lol)

  1. I like the color. Did you apply a top coat? It looks a little flat, but I bet a top coat would give it an awesome shiny finish. I need to come shopping with you to find these hidden gems from yesteryear.

I like the tagline, you should use it. 🙂

    1. I did apply a top coat: Poshe. I’ve noticed that with a lot of older polishes, these fast drying top coats don’t work as well.

If you make it out to California, I’ll take you for sure. We’ll clear them out. lol

  2. I tried looking up "American Classic Nail Polish" on EBay and only got their base/top coats range as well. It must be OLD!!Maybe late 90's? Like, OPI Rainforest old…..

The only polish that comes to mind like this is the Rescue Beauty Lounge in "Halcyon", which is nothing like it except it has a pink shimmer in it's base and it's a non red/non pink polish.

Very pretty. Thinner will make it nice to apply! I really love this!

    1. I know…it's so weird. I can't find a website for American Classic so I emailed Sally's to see if they have any contact info. I did find a phone number for American Classic Nails in New Jersey so I'm wondering if that's the place I'm looking for. I think the info said they've been in business since 2006 so maybe this polish isn't that old. It just seems weird that there seems to be no info about these polishes anywhere.

  3. "Your dusty," lol!
It reminds me a bit of a Revlon Street Wear polish (talk about old) that, YES, I STILL have, called Raw. I think this one is a little darker, though.
    Mmm…coffee.

      1. Hahahahaha…WOWZA!!! I had no idea I had such a commodity! See, this justifies my nail polish addiction…it's like an investment, right? Right.

    1. I know, right? I think that's why I got despite the bottle looking like it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay past its prime. I'm going to search for other interesting polishes from this phantom line.

        1. Totally an investment. Like when I was a kid and I would spend all my allowance on Garbage Pail Kids trading cards. Total investment.

  7. Thanks a lot. Now I feel like I need Starbucks even tho it's the buttcrack of dawn.

Love this polish and love your tag line. 😉 I'm jealous of your dusty. I need to find one. I don't know of any beauty supply stores around me besides mid k (barf) and Sally's. 🙁

      1. Ugh I know.. I'm always up so late!!! And then I have to be up and with all those kids during the day at the park. Why do I do this to myself?!?!

Where do I look on yelp..? I'm not familiar with that site except that you can review places.

        1. well, you can put your city and then search "beauty supply" or "nail supply" and then you should get listings of places that people have reviewed. I always review nail places that I go to and put down prices so that people know where the best bargain is at. 🙂 And then I think that I'm letting everyone in on the secret and regret it. I want to hog these places and keep them a secret. lol

          1. That's cool!! Thanks, I'm going to try to see if I can pull it up on my phone (there's a app for that! maybe) and try it. Oooohhh i would LOVE to find a good place like yours!! 😀

            1. That would be so cool if you found some really good places. I can't believe I ever paid full price for all my polishes before. I wanted to kick myself! Also, if you know anyone with a cosmetician license or whatever, you could always go to cosmoprof…their stuff is sold at a good price too.
