31 Inspired Days of Nail Art – Day 21: Tribal Print Nails

Much like Nicole, I was not really looking forward to doing tribal print nails mostly because I never really liked the way they look. I guess I’ve just always found the patterns too busy for my liking, but I have definitely seen some really amazing manis from talented ladies. I was super duper tempted to just do a skittle mani and use a stamp for the print, but I decided to finally do some kind of free-hand design attempt. Oh boy do I need practice! I started out with 2 coats of essence Nude It!

essence Nude It! Swatch          essence Nude It! Swatch

Nude It! is one of my favorite–if not my favorite–nude color. I like wearing nude colors on their own because my short sausage fingers look longer.

These are all the polishes and tools that I used for the design that follows: essence Let’s Get Lost and Break Through for the color accents, my nail art polishes in black and white and a dotting tool.

Are you ready for my interpretation of tribal print?

To tell you the truth, I am surprised that these came out somewhat decent. While I don’t see myself doing this type of design again any time soon, I am glad that I am finally trying some free-hand stuff. Practice makes perfect, right?

What do you think about tribal print nail designs? What do you think about my first free-hand attempt? (Be nice!) Don’t forget to check out Nicole’s tribal print nails over at Polish Me, Please! Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to check back for our next challenge: Galaxy Nails!

    These look great!

I tried tribal once and it came out appalling! I’ve never had the heart to attempt them again.

Thank you! I think that for once, I am lucky that something new to me came out decent. I was really worried about how badly these would turn out so I’m happy with them. Still, I find the design way too busy for me. You should try again! I can’t imagine your design not turning out considering all the lovely nail sets you do.

The freehand looks really good!. I was expecting something awful the way you were talking about it!
It would be way to busy for me but you did a great job!

Thank you! :) I think I am crazy critical about my nail designs, but these came out better than I expected. The challenge is the only reason why I would wear something like this–they are way too busy for me too, but now that I’ve done it, I have more appreciation for the ladies who do similar designs on a regular basis.

We are some kind of dang tribal nail prodigies aren’t we?! I mean, I think yours are like miles above mine, they look so good I want them to be made into a purse or something, but for both of our first tries I’m proud of us both. See? Isn’t it great that this challenge is making us try all this new stuff? Ugh these nails of yours are haunting me they look so good. I know they’re too busy for you cuz you’re nuts and all but they look soooooooooo good!! Perfect job.

This is a perfect example of me not being that impressed with my nails and then everyone likes them. lol I do think it’s awesome that the challenge is making me stray from my comfort zone so yay to that. Thanks again for the compliments. I am feeling kinda confident so I can’t wait for the next challenge where I do some ugly ass nails and then I’m back down in the dumps. hahaha

WHAT??? WHAT??? These are FREAKING INCREDIBLE! Holy crap, they are fantastic!!!
Everyone’s comments have been positive, but…I need MORE. I need to convey how impressed I am by jumping through the Intarwebs and yelling about it! Like if you did my nails, I would ask you to do this, despite the fact that I have never considered tribal nails for myself. I especially like the middle/pinky design.
And, that is all. I hope I have expressed that I like these rather a lot. ;)

lol…woah. I don’t think any of my nail designs have ever inspired such strong reactions. I honestly think that there was some kind of magical inspiration involved because I had no idea what I was doing or what kind of look I wanted to end up with. I was watching really bad zombie movies on netflix while I did them so who knows? But thank you! All the positive comments have made me feel that maybe I should try more freehand stuff. :)

I actually can see now all the tools you used! I can’t believe those essence’s came out so good, I mean I love essence but i thought it was other colour brands you used!
Also I’m so jealous you use a brush and your lines are so straight… I’m working so hard on that at the moment!
Anyways I did fb comment but I’ll say it again, LOVE it!!!

Thank you! It’s actually easier than I thought to do straight lines with those really long bristled brushes. I am a huge fan of essence as you can tell. I think they make some of the best and most underrated polishes out there. I wish I had access to all of their colors since we only get a few at the store I shop at.
